My Lar Familiaris tests the fire alarm

It is the Nones of September. I performed a ritual for the Nones the first time, and I wanted to try my new charcoal censer and resin incense. The good news is that the ritual was completed successfully.

I liked being able to drop incense onto the hot coal when the ritual called for it. Up to now, I have been lighting an incense cone at the start of a ritual. When it called for dropping incense into the fire, I would just wave my hand to waft the incense smoke over the altar.

And now—the bad news. The frankincense put off a lot of smoke. A lot. And my lararium just happens to be under a fire alarm. To be honest, I don’t think it would have mattered if it was on the opposite side of the room—there was a lot of smoke. And so—

I walked the new censer into the bathroom, ran some water, and dropped the hot coal into it.

I wanted to let the incense burn for about an hour or so. Alas, no. On the bright side, my lar familiaris tested the fire alarm to show that he’s keeping an eye on the place.
